Calnetix, Inc. was created by the merger of Advanced Motor Technologies (AMT) and magnetic bearing patent rights bought from Avcon. AMT was a company that specialized in high performance, particularly high speed, motors and generators.

Calnetix currently designs and manufactures high speed, high performance motors and generators for turbocompressors, energy storage flywheels, micro turbines, expanders, laser systems, medical applications and other industrial applications. Calnetix also designs and manufactures patented permanent magnet biased magnetic bearings to support high speed systems.
