Flywheel Details

VYCON’s technology is based on proprietary designs and development work created at Calnetix.

VYCON has taken the research and development products from Calnetix and has created a line of production oriented flywheel systems. Each system focuses on the use of high technology components for increased efficiencies while producing them at costs that will provide a competitive price in the energy storage market.

VYCON is now developing a line of cost effective flywheel systems that provide higher reliability and less maintenance than the existing battery technologies in the UPS market.

  • 125 kVA alpha phase test unit is currently in operation at VYCON
  • 160 kVA Beta phase units are in the manufacturing stage
  • 375 kVA system in final design stages
  • 160 kVA production is scheduled to begin in Q2 2004
  • 1.5 MW system in preliminary design phase
