Topic to Cover Comparative Study of Axial, Radial Magnetic Bearing Arrangements for Turbocompressor Applications
Cerritos, Calif. – August 4, 2014 – Calnetix Technologies, a pioneer in high-speed permanent magnet motor generators, power electronics and magnetic bearings for a variety of applications and industries, announced today that Alexei Filatov, Principal Research Engineer, will present at the International Symposium on Magnetic Bearings (ISMB) next week.
Filatov will discuss the results of a comparative study of axial and radial magnetic bearing arrangements for turbocompressor applications co-authored by Larry Hawkins, Director of Technology, Magnetic Bearings for Calnetix.
“Electromagnetic actuators are the largest components of active magnetic bearing systems inside a machine, and their design has significant impact on the machine size and performance,” said Filatov, the lead author of the study. “We analyzed three types of actuator arrangements commonly used to control two radial and one axial degrees of freedom of a rotor using a real-life gas compressor example, and will share our findings with fellow colleagues in the magnetic bearings field.”
Since 1988, the ISMB is the premier forum for the presentation and discussion of new research results and advances in the field of Magnetic Bearings. The scope of the meeting includes:
