
Insight™ Magnetic Bearing Controllers
Calnetix Technologies has developed and deployed advanced magnetic bearing controllers that contain all of the elements necessary to operate a magnetic bearing system. Key subsystems include a digital signal processor (DSP) board with sensor demodulation electronics, power electronics and DC power supplies. These very compact controllers interact with the magnetic bearing actuators and shaft position sensors, which are located within the PM-driven machine. They receive shaft position signals from sensor heads located within the magnetic bearing actuators, demodulate this information and then process it using advanced DSP algorithms to control the power amplifiers, which in turn drive the required control current through the actuator coils. Calnetix believes that its latest magnetic bearing controller, Insight™ 3600, is the most advanced and compact controller available on the market today.
Calnetix’s Insight™ 3600 Magnetic Bearing Controller consists of a digital signal processor (DSP) board, sensor drive/demodulation electronics with digital calibration, a 5 axis integrated power amplifier board and AC/DC power supplies. The power amplifiers, rated at 3600 VA per channel, produce a control current in the magnetic actuator coils based on the command signal from the DSP.
