Carefree™ Integrated Power Modules (IPMs)

Calnetix Technologies’ Carefree™ Integrated Power Modules (IPMs) consist of a high-speed motor generator integrated with high-speed turbomachinery, such a as a turboexpander or compressor wheel, on a common shaft.  These modules often run on magnetic bearings and are hermetically sealed into a single unit (although other options are available), eliminating the need for a gearbox or lubrication system. These standard subsystems can be modified for customer-specific applications at reduced cost and shorter development time than designing a custom integrated solution from the ground up.

Calnetix’s Carefree™ IPMs are used in a variety of applications, including waste heat recovery, where they are making small-scale Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems viable and economical by providing higher efficiency than current heat recovery solutions and variable speed and load capabilities not available in current ORC systems on the market.
