Mechanical Engineer III

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer III with a technical background. The ideal candidate should have the desire and capability to be the mechanical engineering lead focal point for new design developments using the company’s core technology. The job will require understanding the development objectives and applying strong fundamental engineering expertise to support the design of the product. There are huge opportunities for growth within the company, so we are also seeking someone with a strong work ethic and dynamism. In this position, you will execute the design for designated projects from inception through the specification, design, fabrication, validation and testing of development, while taking advantage of the expertise of the core engineering team from a design technical perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Application of engineering principles and established engineering norms to design 
  • Conceptualization of new designs based on existing proven designs and innovations
  • Evaluate products, parts or processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Ensure optimum manufacturing efficiency and costs in design
  • Assistance to design group in SolidWorks on assigned projects
  • Technical oversight (including design tradeoffs, manufacturability, stack-up analyses, etc.) and review of the design for both internal and external reviews 
  • Design contribution to the core engineering team in areas of expertise
  • Technical risk identification, mitigation plans as well as development and execution of alternate design approaches
  • Ensure timely completion of project design deliverables, including design drawings, analysis and other documentation as required
  • Take design ownership on projects as well as engineering signature approval on mechanical drawings
  • Must be flexible and willing to go beyond general job responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop young engineers as assigned from time to time

You Must Have:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with minimum 5 years of experience
  • Expert in GD&T standards and application to new designs
  • Experience with high speed machines and/or permanent magnet motors a plus
  • System integration experience specifically with electro-mechanical systems, bearings and seals a plus
  • Firm capability to support/check structural and thermal simulation results with hand calculations and solid rationale
  • Hands-on engineer with the ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practice

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of engineering material selection and how to apply
  • Understanding of preload and ability to assess potential material fatigue situations
  • Hands-on troubleshooting capability including the use of standard inspection tools and the ability to do spot check inspections on shop floor of critical components
  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Position is required to be on site but partial remote work may considered after 6 months of continuous employment have been met
