Long Beach Container Terminal Orders Six REGEN Units From VYCON for RTG Cranes at the Port of Long Beach

December 1, 2006

Los Angeles –  VYCON, a leader in the design and manufacture of high cycling energy storage flywheel systems, today announced that Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) at the Port of Long Beach has ordered six REGEN units for RTG cranes at their terminal. The REGEN System is VYCON’s emissions reduction and fuel savings crane energy storage system currently being used at the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles.

VYCON’s ability to deliver their environmental improvement message to both Southern California ports has helped to create a strong interest in the REGEN system locally. With the emphasis on fuel reduction, interest is also being generated at ports around the world and sales discussions are currently underway with several port operations throughout Asia and Europe.

Long Beach Container Terminal made the decision to purchase the REGEN System after touring the installation at the STS (Evergreen) terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. “We pride ourselves on being the first to adopt new technologies for environmental improvements. We have tested several new options but have been most impressed with VYCON’s REGEN system,” recounted Kevin Hayes, Vice President of Safety, Security and Maintenance and Repair for Long Beach Container Terminal. “We’ve had a chance to watch how the system works at the Evergreen and ITS terminals and that gave us the validation we needed to go forward with our purchase.”

The first two units are scheduled for delivery as soon as possible and the balance of four units will be delivered sometime in early 2007.

“This sale indicates that our REGEN System is being accepted by the local operators as a solution to reduce emissions and to lower fuel costs. It opens an opportunity for VYCON to retrofit the approximately 250 AC type RTG cranes that are currently in operation in Southern California and polluting the air on a daily basis,” said Louis Romo, 12880 Moore Street Cerritos, CA 90703 Phone: +1-562-293-1360 E-mail: osolis@vyconenergy.com Website: www.vyconenergy.com Company Contact: Octavio Solis Vice President Business Development, VYCON.
