LOS ANGELES – VYCON, a designer and manufacturer of environmentally friendly, high-speed energy storage flywheel systems, is pleased to announce that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Riello UPS, Europe's leading manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
Under the agreement, Riello UPS will have exclusive distribution rights throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to offer VYCON's innovative and highly efficient VDC (Voltage Direct Connect) flywheel systems as an alternative or complement to traditional lead-acid batteries used in Riello UPS's range of UPS systems.
"We are pleased to enter into this agreement with Riello UPS to provide our award-winning clean energy storage systems for mission-critical applications in Europe," said Frank DeLattre, president of VYCON. "By partnering with Riello UPS, we will be able to further broaden our global market penetration and Riello will be able to offer highly reliable and environmentally sustainable power protection systems that will enable their customers to lower operating costs, improve overall reliability and uptime of their systems in an environmentally friendly manner."
Ecological and extremely reliable, VYCON's VDC systems store and deliver a reliable source of DC power utilizing the kinetic energy of a high-speed flywheel. In the absence of mains current, the VDC's generator converts the kinetic energy into electrical energy, thereby powering equipment which is protected by the UPS until the emergency generator is able to take over. These systems are ideal for applications requiring maximum reliability without compromise.
"The agreement with VYCON strengthens and completes the range of solutions that Riello UPS is capable of offering its clients," said Roberto Facci, foreign sales manager for Riello UPS. "The technology of the VDCs due to their reliability, reduced TCO and environmental sustainability, is of great interest to numerous sectors, from finance to banking, to healthcare, computer services and data centres. The integration of these systems with Riello UPS solutions will therefore constitute a real advantage for our clients in the EMEA area (Europe, Middle East and Africa)."
"As one of the leading UPS manufacturers in Europe, we're very excited to partner with Riello UPS," said Phil Dunn, EMEA sales director for VYCON. "Their product range and market sectors are very complimentary to our flywheel product and we look forward to supporting them in bringing a clean, environmentally friendly alternative to customers in Europe."
Utilizing VYCON's patented flywheel technology, VYCON's VDC unit provides up to 215kW of DC power while the VDC-XE (Xtended Energy) model supplies up to 300kW of DC power within a single cabinet. For longer run times and higher power capacities, the UL listed VDC models can be easily paralleled without needing a special communications link. For extended power outages, the VDC will seamlessly provide enough ride-through protection to transfer to a standby engine generator for a continuous power system.
Over the past year, VYCON has received various industry accolades and product awards including being named to Inc. magazine's list of the 500 fastest growing private companies in America. In addition, the company's product performance and reliability garnered multiple unit wins and several repeat orders from existing customers. Flywheel energy storage has become an important strategic solution for today's mission-critical applications needing reliable power while reducing their carbon footprint.
