VYCON Announces VDC140 Flywheel System Now Carries the CE Mark

September 14, 2006

Los Angeles – VYCON, a leader in the design and manufacture of high and low cycling energy storage flywheel systems, today announced that the CE (Conformité Européene) mark will now appear on their VYCON Direct Connect (VDC) product used in UPS applications. All products sold to, or within the European Union, must carry the CE mark. Developed by the European Union to harmonize product safety and health issues, the CE mark indicates that a product conforms with strict standards to minimize product risks to humans, animals and the environment.

“As a company devoted to developing environmentally friendly products for global commercialization, we see this important milestone as validation of our work to provide the European Union with reliable back up power systems that meet their standards,” said Tony Aoun, President & CEO, VYCON. “Further, we are pleased and proud of the efforts of our technical team led by Patrick McMullen, CTO of VYCON.”

Tested and validated by Intertek ETL SEMKO, the VDC140 was found to conform to the requirements and standards of the 98/37/EEC Machinery Directive and 89/336/EEC Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive. ETL SEMKO is a division of Intertek Group plc (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services, operating in 294 laboratories and 530 offices in 102 countries throughout the world.

VYCON also manufactures the REGEN product line, serving the crane industry to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
