Senior Quality Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer who will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures compliance with aerospace and industrial standards including AS9100, AS13100, and ISO 9001, while driving system-level quality performance, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and internal process excellence.

The position serves as the primary QMS subject matter expert, with emphasis on documentation control, audits, compliance systems, corrective action management, risk-based thinking, and quality system effectiveness. Supplier quality responsibilities are limited to documentation review and system-level oversight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the QMS in compliance with AS9100, AS13100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements.
  • Serve as primary subject matter expert for QMS compliance, internal/external audits, certification audits, and customer assessments.
  • Manage audit readiness activities including gap assessments, corrective action tracking, and closure verification.
  • Maintain core QMS processes including document control, training systems, management review, risk management, and configuration control.
  • Own quality system processes such as First Article Inspection (FAI), control plans, process validation records, and quality planning documentation.
  • Lead nonconformance and corrective action systems (NCR/CAPA), including containment, disposition coordination, and trend analysis.
  • Drive root cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, RCCA).
  • Monitor and report quality KPIs and system performance metrics for leadership review.
  • Ensure customer and regulatory requirements are properly flowed down and integrated into internal processes.
  • Support product verification and release activities including documentation review and compliance package preparation.
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure timely closure of findings per AS9100 requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training related to QMS processes, AS9100/AS13100 requirements, and internal quality procedures.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Program Management to ensure QMS integration across product lifecycle.
  • Provide limited supplier quality support focused on documentation review and compliance verification only (FAI reports, CoC, material certs).
  • Participate in customer and supplier audits as QMS representative when required.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of quality experience with strong emphasis on quality systems and QMS management.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining AS9100 QMS.
  • Experience with AS13100 and aerospace customer requirements preferred.
  • Strong background in audit management, certification readiness, and regulatory compliance systems.
  • ASQ CQE, CQA, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NCR/CAPA systems, First Article Inspection (AS9102), risk management, and configuration control.
  • Familiarity with supplier documentation review.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and interpretation of inspection/CMM reports.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, PFMEA, SPC, and continuous improvement tools at a system level.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audits, documentation, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Ability to work independently while leading cross-functional QMS initiatives.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Office-based role with periodic access to manufacturing environments.
  • Occasional presence in production or machine shop areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs if required.
  • Limited travel for audits, certifications, or training activities.

Salary Range:

$130,000 - $150,000
