Electric Assist for MET Turbochargers

In an innovation designed to reduce power consumption, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Engine Co (MHI-MME) has developed electric-assist turbochargers as part of its MET turbocharger range in collaboration with U.S.-based Calnetix Technologies.  This new product is intended as an alternative to using an auxiliary blower and is claimed to reduce power consumption by 30 percent compared with auxiliary blowers.
